Outreach and Linkages
IDEA operates in consort with a wide network of GOs, NGOs and CBOs. Its partner organizations are spread throughout the country including the Puttalam and Batticaloa Districts, which are effected by the conflict in the north and east. It has been associated with several NGOs and is currently working with sixteen. IDEA’s work often involves government organizations as well. There are several local government authorities that are associated with the stove project : North Central Provincial Council, Central Provincial Council, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, Integrated Rural Development Project in Galle district, Polgolla Upper Mahaweli, Forest Department of the Central Province and the Vayamba and Central Agricultural Department of the healthy degree of co‐operation between these bodies. IDEA promotes a greater degree of co‐ordination and co‐operation between intended beneficiaries, government and non‐governmental organizations and uses every opportunity to create the conditions where a dialogue can take place among these groups. IDEA is the Country Contact Point (CCP) of the Asia Regional Cook Stove Programme (ARECOP) based in Indonesia and has formulated a National Network of NGOs from 15 Districts to implement bio‐mass energy related activities. IDEA work closely in association with the UNDP by representing in the National Steering Committees of the GEF/SGP and PTF/SGP.
